By subscribing to usenet.com I am stating that I have fully read, understood and accepted all terms and conditions listed in this agreement. If you have any questions about anything listed in this disclaimer please direct them to info@usenet.com before you subscribe.

The content of all discussion groups, including without limitation, the descriptions for discussion groups and the content within a specific article, is provided by and is the responsibility of the creator of the discussion group or the person posting an article. usenet.com has NO responsibility for such content and is merely a conduit of articles traveling across Usenet.

All articles on our servers are pushed to our servers via our upstream providers, including large international corporations. usenet.com receives well over 800,000 articles per day, and it is impossible for us or any other corporation running a usenet server to moderate newsgroups. Currently there are no state or federal laws that require any ISP to moderate usenet newsgroups.

By its very nature, Usenet groups may carry very offensive, harmful, inaccurate or otherwise inappropriate material, or in some cases, postings that have been mislabeled or are otherwise deceptive. We expect that you will use caution and common sense and exercise proper judgment when using Usenet.

Again we must emphasize that it is impossible for us or any other usenet service to police hundreds of thousands of articles that pass through our servers everyday. Any article that pass through our servers are the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY of the person who posted the article or created the newsgroup.

  • usenet.com does not produce any content that passes through our servers.
  • usenet.com does not publish any content that passes through our servers. What we mean when we say publish is that we DO NOT extract pictures or programs from usenet for redistribution by various means, such as putting them on CD-ROM or making slide shows or putting them in zip files for download.
  • usenet.com does not condone people posting copyrighted or illegal content to Usenet. If you discover an article that contains any copyrighted or illegal content please send a copy with the full headers to tech@usenet.com. We will then review it and remove it, if is copyrighted or illegal.

Q: Why do you carry groups that appear to be focused on illegal activities?

A: A group name in of itself is not illegal and that what is actually in a group does not necessarily correspond to a group name. Anyone can create newsgroups with any name they choose. In general we do not remove groups, even if they become inactive. It is possible for illegal messages to be posted to ANY group on Usenet and we have no way of monitoring or controlling this. Some groups of individuals actually create groups that are mislabeled to disguise their intent. If you believe something illegal is happening, let us know and we can assist you in determining where the article originated so that the appropriate law enforcement authorities may be contacted and thereby the posters of such material can be prosecuted appropriately.

Q: I am unable to access certain groups via the web to news gateway, why?

A: Some controversial groups are only accessible via a newsreader. The reason for this is due to legal issues in regards of us providing a way to decode any images or files that may contain questionable or illegal content and that were posted by a third party.
